2009 Amish Style Wedding Dinner

Saturday, November 7, 2009 the Second Annual Friends of WomenSafe Amish Style Wedding Dinner was held in the Social Hall at the Middlefield Fire Department.  Over 65 guests feasted on Roast Beef, Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Stuffing, Mixed Vegetables, Broccoli Salad, Date Pudding and assorted pies skillfully prepared by JoAnn Kauffman’s Cater 4U.  Horace Spivey and The Church Boys performed a variety of musical selections while guests shopped at the Amish Bake Sale and bought raffle tickets for a huge Geauga Basket stuffed with certificates, baked goods and products from around the county.  Event Sponsors were The Alvord Agency and Home Savings Bank.  The net proceeds from the evening were $1,428.76.

                      "Around The World In 18 Wines & 6 Beers"

Saturday evening, April 24, 2010 Friends of WomenSafe hosted our First

Annual Wine Tasting at Colonial Beverage in Chesterland, Ohio. “Around

The World in 18 Wines & Beers” offered samplings of an interesting

selection of wines from all corners of the globe as well as beers both exotic

and familiar, accompanied by mouth watering appetizers.  The event

featured a Chinese Auction as well as a 50/50 raffle.  Chaired by FOW

Board Member Kathy Shimer, the evening was a lot of fun and generated

 a net of $1,399.17.  Watch this site for the date of next years wine tasting!

May 12, 2010 was the date of the Eleventh Annual Spring Luncheon to benefit

WomenSafe.  Held at St. Mary’s Banquet Hall in Chardon, catered by Jay Walker’s

Café, with the beautiful harp music of Ginni Dickson, featuring speakers Trapper

Jack and Terry Moir from the WDOK fm Morning Show, the luncheon attracted 158

guests and offered a lavish 46-item Chinese Auction.  Sponsored by UHHS Geauga

Medical Center, Lawrence Dolan, Fairmount Minerals, Seventh Avenue Management

and Kohl’s Department Store #237 in Mentor, the net proceeds from the luncheon were

$ 8,128.42.  WomenSafe Executive Director Shayna Jackson accepted a check for $5,000.00

 from Nancy Zamrzla, Treasurer of Friends of WomenSafe, Inc.
