About Friends

Friends of WomenSafe was launched in February of 2007. Andrea Pollock, Sheila Heller and Nancy Temple served as the founding officers who applied for and received the Charter from the State of Ohio. While waiting for the IRS to grant 501(c)3 status, our seven member board of directors was formed. The initial board members were:

Friends of WomenSafe is governed by a Board of Directors, with three officers (President, Secretary and Treasurer) comprising the Executive Committee. Directors serve two year terms with no term limits.

The current Board of Directors are:

President: Nancy Temple

Nancy started as a WomenSafe volunteer in 1983. In 1989 she joined the WomenSafe Board of Trustees as VP Development. She held the position of VP Board Development at the time she resigned from the WomenSafe Board in 2006. She founded Friends of WomenSafe in February 2007 and has served as President since that time. She chairs the Annual Spring Luncheon, Tea and Theater Parties.

Secretary: Patricia Sommer

Pat joined Friends of WomenSafe in June of 2010, became a member of the Board of Directors in February, 2011 and accepted the position of Secretary in June of 2011. She serves on the committee for the Amish Style Wedding Dinner, Luncheon, Theater Party and handles much of the public relations functions for the organization.

Treasurer: Kathy Shimer

Kathy joined Friends of WomenSafe in May of 2009; became a member of the Board of Directors in February of 2010 and Treasurer in February, 2011. She Chairs our Wine Tasting event and serves on the committee for the Christmas Tea.

Marilyn Harman

Marilyn joined Friends of WomenSafe in May of 2007. She became a member of the Board of Directors in February of 2009. She serves on the committees for the Annual Luncheon and Tea.

Nadine Pope

Nadine joined Friends of WomenSafe in March of 2010 and became a member of the Board of Directors in May, 2010. She serves on the Committees for the annual Luncheon and Tea.

Constance Babcock

Connie joined Friends of WomenSafe in June of 2010 and became a member of the Board of Directors in February, 2011. She serves on the committees for the Wine Tasting and Theater Party.

Stacia Clawson

Stacia joined Friends of WomenSafe as a Participating Member in November of 2009 and accepted a Board Position in June of 2011. She serves on the committees for the Snowflake Ball and Wine Tasting.
